The Junior League of Midland, Inc. has made changes to its Pink Pantry program as COVID-19 has caused schools to be out and students to stay home. Hygiene boxes were housed in secondary schools across Midland, so that students could pick up both personal hygiene and feminine hygiene supplies discreetly.
“The purpose of Pink Pantry is to help students avoid some of the insecurities they may face when it comes to personal hygiene,” says Katie McBride, Pink Pantry Chairman.
However, with school being out and rising economic challenges at home, many students are left without tools to keep up proper hygiene. Junior League of Midland has responded by distributing more than 400 hygiene kits to MISD food distribution sites. Inside the bags, students can find deodorant, shampoo, soap, pads and tampons.
“We hope these kits bring a little bit of comfort to those in need and that we are making an impact in somebody’s life during this trying time,” says Marina Stanaland, Junior League of Midland President.
If you need or a student you know needs a hygiene kit, you can discreetly pick a hygiene kit up Monday through Friday during mealtimes at MISD’s 27 food distribution sites. Find your closest food distribution site at
