Joining FAQ’s

Thank you for your interest in The Junior League of Midland, Inc.! We are excited to get to know you and introduce you to our League.

When can I begin the application process?
Our enrollment application is available starting in January each year on our website. It will provide us with your contact information and allow us to send you important dates and information about the enrollment process.

I have submitted a membership application, what happens next?
Please plan to attend one of our required information sessions on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 6:30pm or Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 6:30pm, which will be held at our headquarters, 902 W. Dengar Ave., Midland, Texas, 79705. If you are unable to attend either of those sessions, we are holding an informal zoom session on April 23, 2024.  To attend the informal session, please contact the Provisional Chair at join@jlmidland.org.

What are your age requirements?
In order to qualify for the next Provisional Class, you must be at least 23 years old by August 1 of the year you join the League. We do not offer waivers for this policy. There is no upper age limit to join our League.

I may need to transfer my Provisional Membership. What should I do?

Please send an email to juniorleaguemidland@gmail.com for assistance.

I am currently a member of another Junior League and want to transfer my membership. Who do I contact?
Please contact your home League first to begin the process and then send an email to mvp@jlmidland.org.

I work full time and have a crazy life/kids/family/dog. What is the time
commitment required to be a member?
Your first year in the League is well rounded as you are introduced to every part and facet of the League. You will volunteer in different areas of League life to get to know our League. In the Spring, you go more “hands-on” by joining a committee already in progress. Most consider the first year in our League as the most time intensive. There is a required number of volunteer
hours and meetings. After your provisional year, your time commitment varies depending on your committee placement.

I am trying to plan my wedding/vacation/root canal/life. Do you have the
dates of all the mandatory meetings?
Our calendar runs June 1 to May 31. We will provide all the important dates to our new members as soon as we can.

Provisional, Active, Sustainer… What does this all mean?
Our League has three classifications of members. If you are in your first year of membership, you are considered a Provisional member. Once you
complete your first year successfully, you will become an Active member. After 7 years of Active membership, you can elect to be a Sustaining member. Sustaining members have no service obligations.
How often do you pay dues? Who can I contact if I have a question
about dues?

League Dues are paid annually and are due by March 1. Our Ways and Means Fee (a fee we all pay in lieu of having required ticket purchases, etc.)
is due by October 1 of the same League year. We can pay the annual League Dues and/or the Ways and Means Fee online or by check. Our Finance team is responsible for collecting dues and fees. Provisional Dues and Fees are due by May 1.

I still have other questions. Is it ok to contact you?
Please contact us with any questions! We are here to help you and want to
make this process as easy as possible. Our email address
is juniorleaguemidland@gmail.com.
